Muffin

My hamster was named Muffin. She was brown and white and had pink feet. She liked sunflower seeds and tubes. I built her a castle out of paper rolls. She slept in a ball of fluff in the corner. Sometimes she ran in her wheel and it went squeak squeak squeak. I liked the sound when I was falling asleep. I let her crawl on my hands and she licked me once. It tickled. She was very small. When she died, I didn’t understand at first. But Mommy said she was tired and her body stopped working. We made her a little box and I drew her picture on it. I put my sticker of a star on top so she could see it. I still look at the corner of my desk. Sometimes I think I hear her. Goodbye, Muffin. You were my first pet. I love you.
