Henrietta

Henrietta was one of our most favourite girls to have around the house. She owned the lawn and presented us with hundreds of beautiful free range eggs for many years. And all from an inglorious start after she came to us as a young pullet. In the very early hours of one of the first mornings with us, I heard a commotion outside our bedroom window and went to see what was up. Lo and behold wasn't Mr. Fox inside in our chicken pen and he had poor little Henrietta inside in his mouth. I opened the bedroom window and let out an almighty roar. Mr. Fox looked up at me and reckoned that he wasn't going to escape out over the pen with Henrietta in his mouth before I got down to him. He promptly dropped Henrietta and scuttled back out over the fence leaving poor little Henrietta looking ruffled and petrified. She was a bit out of sorts for a few days but came around and enjoyed a long and happy life with us. Rest easy Girl
